1. Leather Quality

The first thing that DP offers you is amazing leather quality. If the first question you're thinking in your head is “How do I really know the quality is good?” Let me tell you!

The first sign is when looking at the leather you can see just by looking at it that you are getting REAL leather. 

If you are not sure how to tell if the leather is real or not you can tell by the “marks” that will be on the leather. You may see things that look like scratches or marks on the leather, don’t let this turn you away, they are not due to production error.  DP’s leather is made with cow skin so these “marks” show the story of the cow's life before it was made into your beautiful saddle. 

DP also makes sure to only use the best vegetable tanned leather when producing their saddles. The saddle is made up of smooth leather but with the seat leather you get the opportunity to choose if you would like Nappa, Nubuck, or Aspen seat leather.

For the end result the combination of the saddle and seat leather will influence the way your saddle will look.

First let me tell you about the differences in the seat leather so you can determine what is right for you. 

• Nappa Leather is a soft and pebbled leather with a lightly structured surface. The simplest way to think about it is that compared to Nubuck and Aspen you can easily wipe the leather with a wet towel or cloth and wiping the surface will not cause any damage to the leather.

• When it comes to Nubuck and Aspen leather it is more of a velvet-like feel with a suede-like structure on the surface. This helps with adherence but being the opposite of Nappa leather you aren’t able to just wipe the surface, you will need special cleaning equipment so you don’t damage your leather. Also a plus to Nubuck leather is that it is top grained and hand sanded.

Please note that the pictured leather colors are not necessarily true to tone, and serve only as a sample photo. With leather being a natural product, slight differences are possible as well as small scarring. These are not production errors, but rather a sign of authenticity and high quality leather. Depending on your computer screen and resolution settings, colors may differ and guarantees are not given.

Now moving along to the ultra flex tree, these trees are made out of high quality carbon fiber, this option gives more flexibility to your horse to move freely without being restraint but it is also sturdy and secure enough that the tree won't collapse under your weight. Another benefit is that it is very light weight and most riders enjoy this benefit.

So right now I know what you're thinking, “how is tooling such a big deal? other companies have tooling on their saddles this doesn’t make DP any different from other companies” but DP is different and I am going to tell you why.

As you were thinking before, majority if not all saddle companies offer tooling on their saddles, but the difference between them and DP Saddlery is that other companies use machines that easily press a tooling pattern into your saddle whereas all of DP’s tooling options are hand tooled.
